"Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the almighty Father."
In addition to the ordinary and individual sacrifices we make throughout Lent, all St. Monica parishioners are invited to participate in a special way in a series of spiritual offerings. For the first five weeks of Lent, our whole parish family will focus on five spiritual sacrifices: humility, praise, peace, charity, and mercy.
In the sixth week (Holy Week), we remember Christ's sacrifice. We also remember this sacrifice at every celebration of the Mass. Our hope is to unite our spiritual offerings throughout those five weeks, as well as any other personal sacrifices, to Christ's sacrifice on the Cross every single time we celebrate Mass together and most especially when we celebrate his Passion, Death, and Resurrection at Easter.
Remember that we call our liturgy the Sacrifice of the Mass. Throughout this season, offer sacrifices that are pleasing to God, and remember to bring them to the altar every time you come to celebrate the Mass.
New resources will be posted under the "Lent 2024" page each Saturday to help you reflect on each sacrifice and incorporate it into your week.
